Be on guard

Police investigations are underway to find a man in his 40s, who is believed to have inexplicably assaulted four young women within two hours last Friday.

The attacks, which took place in Sham Shui Po, began at around 4pm, as a 17-year-old student was hit on the head with an electrical plug in Fu Cheong Estate, Apple Daily reports.

The teen was taken to the hospital after a passerby called the police, and was reportedly bleeding profusely from her forehead.

Less than 15 minutes later, a 23-year-old woman was also attacked in the same estate, when a man jumped in front of her and punched her on the left side of her face.

Hours later, at around 10.53pm, a 22-year-old woman, surnamed Ng, was punched on the nose in neighboring Wing Cheong Estate.

A 20-year-old student was then attacked around 11 minutes later in Nam Cheong Estate, and sustained injuries to her lower face.

As all of the attacks were carried out similarly – seemingly at random, with the perpetrator delivering one swift blow before running away – and all victims’ descriptions of their attacker matching up with CCTV footage, police have concluded that they were probably the work of the same man.

Out of the four women, three were hospitalized, two were students (in uniform), and one (Ng) now requires surgery. The victims say that they do not know each other, and nor do they know their attacker.

The perpetrator has been described as a slim man in his 40s, with short black hair, and standing at about 1.7 meters tall. He was wearing a black T-shirt, a black jacket, and dark blue trainers with white soles.

After initial investigations, police have said they suspect the man to be “psychopathic”, with a “deep-seated hatred for women”. Judging by the localized attacks, they also suspect that he either lives or works nearby.
